# Userscript-Style Workflows in 1Extn

Documentation last reviewed: 2026-10-02

1Extn can work with compatible userscript-style code as part of its Safari script tools. It is intended for focused webpage customization and optional site-specific execution.

## What 1Extn Supports

- Editable userscript-style JavaScript
- Compatible metadata when supported by the imported code and 1Extn
- Trusted HTTPS `.user.js` links
- Manual execution of one selected script at a time
- Optional Auto Run for multiple trusted scripts on selected Safari websites
- Importing, exporting, sharing, and organizing saved scripts

## Compatibility

Userscript compatibility is not universal. A script may depend on APIs, metadata directives, browser behavior, permissions, or page structures that 1Extn does not provide. Website changes can also break previously working scripts.

Review the code and test it on the intended website before depending on it.

## 1Extn Compared with a Dedicated Userscript Manager

1Extn combines ready-made Safari tools, searches, redirects, webpage scripts, and Apple workflow connections in one app. It is not a full replacement for Tampermonkey, Userscripts, or another specialized userscript manager.

A dedicated userscript manager may be a better choice when the main requirement is:

- Advanced userscript metadata support
- A large script library
- Specialized update or dependency behavior
- A complex userscript-specific workflow

1Extn may be a suitable choice when the goal is to keep focused Safari utilities, searches, redirects, and personal webpage changes together.

## Safety

- Use code from sources you trust.
- Read and understand a script before running it when possible.
- Grant Safari access only to websites where the tool is needed.
- Enable Auto Run only for trusted scripts and selected sites.
- Recheck scripts after a target website changes.
